Rie Aoki, born and raised in Tochigi, Japan, began training at age six at Chiyo Ishihara Ballet School. During her teenage years she won second place at the Yokohama Ballet Competition, third place at Japan’s National Ballet Association (NBA) Ballet Competition and was a finalist multiple times at The Japan Grand Prix and YAGP. Rie finished her training in Washington D.C. while on scholarship at the Kirov Ballet Academy under Ludmila Morkovina. After graduating, Rie danced with Milwaukee Ballet II, Columbia Classical Ballet and later was a guest artist at Brandon Ballet in Florida before joining FSBT in 2013. Since joining FSBT, Rie has danced the principle roles of Swanhilda in Coppélia, Kitri in Don Quixote and Hermina in Walpurgis Night, and many featured roles including Peasant Pas in Giselle, Princess Florine in The Sleeping Beauty, Dew Drop in The Nutcracker, and Stepsister in Cinderella. Rie has danced many classical pas de deux with FSBT including Talisman, Le Corsaire, Diana and Acteon, and La Bayadère.
