Molly Rooney is originally from Upper Dublin, PA, and began her dance training at Dance Elite in Horsham with Nadia Pavlenko and Maxim Ponomarenko. She attended the full-time program at the Nutmeg Conservatory of the Arts in Torrington, Connecticut, during her junior year of high school. She supplemented her training during high school with summer programs on scholarship at the Kirov Ballet Academy, American Ballet Theatre, Orlando Ballet and American Academy of Ballet. Molly attended Point Park University in Pittsburgh on a dance scholarship to pursue a B.A. in both dance and business administration. In 2011, she competed in the first Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition in Boston. Molly joined First State Ballet Theatre in 2011, where she has danced soloist roles in The Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Walpurgis Night, Don Quixote, Giselle, Viktor Plotnikov’s Nonsense in the Sense of Innocence, Raymonda, Coppélia, Cinderella, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Carmen, and The Lady and the Hooligan. Molly received her B.A. in Communications from the University of Pennsylvania and hopes to use her degree to fundraise for non-profits in the arts.
