Leonid Goykhman has been a professional dancer and teacher in the tri-state area for the past 10 years. He trained at the Academy of International Ballet in Media, PA under the direction of Denis Gronostayskiy and Anastasia Babayeva. While pursuing a degree in Dance Education at the University of the Arts, Leonid also performed with various local schools and dance companies. In addition, he has performed with the City Ballet of San Diego and Configuration Dance Theater as a freelance artist. This is Leonid’s eighth season with First State Ballet Theatre. He has performed numerous lead roles with the company including Franz in Coppèlia, Pan in Walpurgis Night, the title role in Pinocchio, and Solor in the Grand Pas d’action from La Bayadère. He and his partner earned a special commendation for “Excellence in Contemporary” at the 2013 Valentina Kozlova International Ballet Competition. Leonid teaches classes and choreographs for students at the Academy of International Ballet and Broadway Bound Dance Academy. In his spare time, Leonid enjoys all forms of cultural entertainment including museums and galleries, live music and, of course, live theater.
