Erin Kuwabara was born in Brantford, Ontario and began dancing at the age of five under the direction of her elder sister Kathryn Kuwabara. She later studied with Gizella Witkowsky and John Ottmann at the Quinte Ballet School of Canada. In 2012, she was accepted into the two-year graduate program at Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. After graduation, Erin accepted an apprenticeship with Alabama Ballet in Birmingham, Alabama. This is her first season with First State Ballet Theatre. Erin’s repertoire includes Giselle, George Balanchine’s Serenade, Cinderella, Agnes de Mille’s Fall River Legend, Raymonda and Paquita. Other favorite roles include principle parts in La Bayadere, Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, Laurencia, La Fille Mal Gardee and Don Quixote. When Erin isn’t in the studio she is traveling, cooking and spending time with her family.
