Andrew Matte, a New Hampshire native, began his training at Londonderry Dance Academy with Barbara Mullen. There he had the opportunity to perform with the New England Dance Ensemble in such productions as The Nutcracker, Coppélia and A Child’s View of the Holocaust. Andrew has a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Hartford, where he continued his dance training with Samantha Dunster, Hilda Morales, Stephen Pier and esteemed guest teachers Angel Corella, Xiomara Reyes and Peter Stark. Andrew is a two-year winner of the Connecticut Classic Competition gold medal in Pas de Deux. Favorite roles include Espada in Don Quixote, Hilarion in Giselle and Rothbart in The Swan Princess. This is Andrew’s third season with First State Ballet Theatre. When he is not in the studio, Andrew works in geriatric personal care; he also writes plays and, most recently, a novel.
